We aren't in full operational lesson mode yet but we are getting closer. Although we have snow at our land based teaching sites the snow has a crust layer that makes it highly unsafe for kiting on for beginners.
The ice situation is improving and in the north country and as you can see from this shot it is rideable. Ice depth varies from 3.5 to 7 inches in many places. But safety is our goal and we feel the it needs a bit more time. Don't worry, winter is here and things are shaping up great! These are shots from Sunday's site assessments.
WARNING. No ice is ever 100% safe. We offer condition reports as a service to our students and clients who are familiar with the area and as a source of general condition information to others. These reports are not intended to replace common sense or up to the minute first hand knowledge of a given area. Nor is it a substitute for common sense. When in doubt don't go out.
