*
Skier
Snowboarder
As a beginner, even if you are a snowboarde, skis are easier to learn kiting on as it often involves a lot of moving around to postion yourself for successful lauches etc... Kiting in this regions is also friendlier toward skis than boards due to the firm conditions.

*
Intermediate (Can ride most Blue and some Black Runs)
Advanced (Prefer Black runs, have solid edging ability at any speed)
Expert (Can ride anything including Double Black Diamond Runs)
Determine your level of skiing/boarding. This is especially important to ascertain your ability to hold an edge which directly affects how well you manage the kite and variable, often firm ice, surfaces.
If "snowboarder", can you ski?

I'm not a snowboarder
Although snowkiting can be done on skis or a board, the intitial learning process is easier with the molubility of skis vs. snownboard. Thus we recommend anyone taking a snowkite clinic for the first time, do so on skis.

LEI (Leading Edge Inflatable)
Unknown
Foil kites share similar physicl traits to para gliders or sport parachutes. They have a bridle (string) structure that supports the kite and intakes at the front for air to inflate the wing structure while moving. They require no pumps to inflate and can pack down for easy transport. They are the kites commonly used by dedicated snowkiters. LEI (Leading Edge Inflatable) kites are most commonly used for kitesurfing but can also be used for land/snow kiting. They have no bridles and use air filled bladders to support the structure of the wing. They require a pump to inflate. Most commonly used in winter by people who ride them in the summer.
