As our riding areas quickly melt out for the season we have moved further North as we try to get a few last minute sessions in. For reasonable ice we've had to hit places like Umbagog and others. The ice is highly variable as it usually is this time of year but there are still a lot of good places to ride. Especially if you have experience with them. Umby for example is in great shape but there are areas opening up on the lake that one needs to be mindful of. Some are perennial risk areas that we see year after year while some are new to us this season. For example there are two pressure ridges on the north end of Umby that we have never seen before. One has opened up about 20' wide in the last week. The end of this season has come to us a little early. The ice out on Winne this season was the earliest in recorded history. Last year at this time we were still flying the entire length of Squam. Squam ice out has already been declared as well. With the late start and this early finish, we've had an amazingly short season. We hope to get another week up north. Soon the only riding available will be in Quebec the way things are going.

WARNING. No ice is ever 100% safe. We offer condition reports as a service to our students and clients who are familiar with the area and as a source of general condition information to others. These reports are not intended to replace common sense or up to the minute first hand knowledge of a given area. Nor is it a substitute for common sense. When in doubt don't go out.
