Week 4 results are up and Guy has once again put the bar up high with a top speed of 70.35 mph. This is the first 70+ speed of the season! Very few have gotten into the 70 MPH club and it will be quite a challenge for anyone, including Guy himself, to beat that speed.
The guys in Quebec own the ranking this week taking the top 3 spots with Marcel at 57.41mph for 2nd and Bob at 48.6mph for 3rd.
If you're wondering what kind of winds you need to reach the 70mph zone, take a look at Guy's entry.
Robert Bocik enters our first ice buggy of the season and comes up with 38.6 mph and a minor mishap.
Well done Guy and everyone who came out to play. We love seeing what you're all up to and we look forward to seeing what you do for next week!!!
Deadline for week 5 is 2.4.2018
Go get it!
WOW! The Swedes really pushed hard last week and the results show. Our ranking leader Guy has been kept out of the top spot by Swedes Robin and Jonas ON SKATES!!!!
This is the first time we've ever seen skates at the top of the ranking and the first time we've seen anyone on skates go so fast. Very impressive achievement!!! Setting the bar high!!!
It just shows you never know what can happen until it happens. You just need the right conditions, with the right equipment and the right person to use it, to get some amazing results.
It's not an easy thing to do. But it happens.
So now the question I pose to you all is this. What is faster? Skis or skates?
Now, my response (and I'm a bit biased here) is skis are still the best tool for speed on a kite. But Robin and Jonas put up a good argument against this. Only time will tell.
Well done gentlemen. Very impressive.
Deadline for submissions for Week 4 is 12.28.18. Get out there, have fun, be safe, haul A$$. :-)
Week 2 results are in. We were hoping to see another showdown between Guy and Gary but Gary had to work. So in his absence Guy is doing what he does best. Staying in first place!
Saulius Muliolis came in a not too distant second place with Jeff Jacobs in third.
We are happy to see Fart Boy Armovit back in the mix! The ranking wouldn't be the same without him!
Robin Larson brings up the rear this week. But those Swedes have been busy the last few days. I'm pretty excited about next weeks postings.
Stay safe, go fast and have fun. See you all next week!
Well, here we are again! Another snow kite season, another Hardwater Kiting GSR and I am totally psyched to see so many familiar faces!
Participation is always a little "lean" initially but it also consists of the dedicated participants that we love to see year after year. And it's always fun to see how everyone has progressed over time. Seriously, even in light wind on a non-race kite, people are still over 20 mph. And more than half the field is over 40- mph and close to 50 mph!
And of course it's always a thrill to see what the speedy guys in Quebec are up to.
I'm psyched to welcome Gary Kjelleren back into the mix. He was MIA from the ranking for a bit but has returned with a vengeance and is tied for week one with Guy Lebrun! I'm hoping this cultivates some friendly rivalry in the ranking. It's always exciting to see two power houses dual over the season.
Of course I have to note that Gary submitted two speeds for week 1. One for ski and one for boards. 52 on a board is quite an achievement. Especially given it isn't a custom kite race board. Well done Gary you beast! ;-)
Week 2 submissions are due 1.14.2018 Let's see what you got!!!
