HWK Global Speed Ranking Rules
1) Have fun! Submit any speed you have! If conditions are slow in your region EVERYONE will be slow. You could have 10mph and still be fastest for the week, you never know!
2) Participants must be on snow or ice.
3) Participants must be wind/kite powered on a level surface, the kite can be Foil, LEI or Para-ski. Kite is defined as a sail attached to participant and controlled via control lines.
4) Any submissions above 60 mph/100kph must be accompanied by any data available on (at least) one GPS unit for independent data scrub and verification by Hardwater Kiting. Multiple units are always better. Any submissions over 70mph/112kph require data from no less than 2 GPS units to be submitted for verification by HWK. We recommend 3 GPS units for speeds above 70mph/112kph. Due to variations in accuracy with phone based GPS tracking, Only data tracked and recorded by purpose built GPS units that can be scrubbed for errors will be accepted for speeds above 60mph. Phones being utilized as GPS units, will be accepted but will be listed with the phone element being noted and possibly placed into a "Phone Based" category. Any submissions over 60mph submitted without the required data for inspection will be listed for the week it was submitted but as "Unconfirmed". It will not affect the overall ranking.
5) All weekly winning submissions must have a photo of the competitor and their GPS unit with the screen data visible.
6) Speed submissions must include the following information....
A) Name
B) Speed (MPH)
C) Equipment: Kite (size/model) and sliding apparatus (ski, board, skates etc...)
D) Location (State/Province etc.) and terrain (lake/field etc.,)
E) Date
F) Additional Info (Interesting details about your session.)
PLEASE ONLY ONE SUBMISSION PER WEEK. If you plan to get out multiple days we request that you wait until you get you best speed for the week before submitting. If you submit multiple submissions in a given week we will accept the first submission and disregard the rest.
7) All entries must be submitted at the end of each GSR week. The first week starts January 1st-7th etc... One entry per week. If you submit multiple entries in a week the first entry will stand and all others will be disregarded. So save your entry for the one that you want to count. :-)
8) There are no gender or age specific classes at this time. Gender and Age may be included with submission for the record. Awards may be given for specific items of interest such as Age (youngest/oldest) Gender (Men's/Women's/Other) Riding Backwards, night riding or just about anything out of the ordinary.
9) Speed Ranking submissions will be accepted starting January 1st 2019 through April 1 2019.
11) Persons responsible for conduct that is damaging to the sport of snowkiting and/or who's actions have resulted in closure of access to kiting areas are not eligible to participate in the GSR.
12) HWK staff are eligible for participation in the 2019 HWK GSR.
